Figure 12.1. The distance between the dots is 3,142 nautical miles. The line continues northward to Monk’s Mound at Cahokia.

For example, a line bearing 314.15 degrees from Monk’s Mound extends to the very tip of the contiguous land on the Alaskan Peninsula. In turn the line joining this Alaskan peninsula point with Punta Balcones passes over Teotihuacán, and 3,142 nautical miles can be measured between Punta Balcones and Horn Island on a line extending to Monk’s Mound. It is a joined-up language connecting the limits of the continents. These monuments are geometric points defining the vision of a geometrically ordered landscape.
